Kenneth Thomas

In 1997, Mr. Thomas founded search engine company QuantumFind with Abhay Bhushan, creator of FTP, with lead investment from Deepak Chopra. “What we wanted to be was basically like Google, but a bit better,” jokes Thomas.

“I caught the entrepreneurial bug while sharing a house with founders Bo Peabody and Brett Hershey, just as they were starting out. What I learned was ‘you can.’ The path may be steep and difficult, but a combination of hard work, persistence and imagination -- and often long hours and a good dash of intelligence-- can create the extraordinary.”

In 1999, Mr. Thomas served as Milberg Weiss LLP’s expert witness and adviser during the Napster trial.

Before and after QuantumFind, Mr. Thomas was the founder of AutoGuru, an online reverse-price new car auction; of WirelessHarbors and FrequencyTen, in wireless broadband; of FrequencyTen Auctions, a consumer goods arbitrage; and several other ventures. Outside of Drupal and IT, his current interests include low-scale wind power and ultralight vehicles.

Mr. Thomas has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, ranging from systems administration positions at UC Berkeley and BBN Planet, to acting as CTO and CFO of his co-ventures.

Thomas holds a B.A. from Williams College, the US’s #1 small college, an A.A. from Deep Springs College, the US’s most selective institution, and an M.A./C.Phil.(*) from U.C. Berkeley.
